Appeal Evaluation: $1,500

Before you commit, we review the order and the key parts of the record (up to 1,000 pages), identify preserved issues, apply the standard of review, assess realistic odds and cost, and flag the deadlines. You receive a written assessment and a strategy call.

The evaluation fee is separate from a full appeal engagement, but you’ll never pay twice for the same work. If you hire us for the appeal, we start with the record already reviewed and the issues already mapped.

Request an Appeal Evaluation

The Appeal Evaluation is an initial assessment based on the order, the record provided, and the issues apparent at the outset. Appeals often evolve once full briefing begins: additional issues, record problems, or research needs can surface that weren’t apparent in an initial review. Our evaluation reflects our professional judgment at the time of review and is not a guarantee of any outcome or a final determination of every issue on appeal.

Frequently asked questions

Who writes the brief?

A licensed Florida attorney, every time.

Do you file the brief?

No. You remain counsel of record and handle the filing once we have delivered the final signature-ready brief.

Will my client know you were involved?

No. We work through you and communicate with your client only if you ask us to.

Do you handle appeals outside Florida?

Yes. We are Florida-licensed and support appellate counsel in federal court and other states, with the attorney of record remaining responsible for the representation and filings in that jurisdiction.

Do you handle criminal appeals?

No. We handle appeals in every area of civil law, but not criminal matters.

Can you help before the notice of appeal is filed?

Yes. We can flag deadlines, evaluate whether issues were preserved, and help you decide whether to appeal through our Appeal Evaluation.

Do you help with oral argument?

Yes. We can prepare argument outlines and summaries, and play “red team leader” to help you prepare for the panel’s likely questions.

What do you need to get started?

The order or judgment being appealed, the record (or the relevant portions), and your view of the strongest issues. We'll scope the engagement from there.

How much does an appellate brief cost?

Appellate work is billed at $275 per hour. Initial briefs typically start at $8,250, and answer and reply briefs at $5,000, depending on the length of the brief, the size of the record, and how much drafting versus review you need. Appeals begin with a $2,750 deposit, and you receive an estimate before work begins. See Rates & FAQ.
